Southern Utah University
New EEJ Teacher Education Building
Cedar City, Utah

WHW Engineering, Inc. provided the consulting mechanical engineering design for the new 50,000 sf classroom and office building on the campus of Southern Utah University. The new building houses professor offices, classrooms, and lecture hall. It was built in the center of campus adjacent to the Old Main building and is now one of the central landmarks of the University.

The mechanical system is a 4 pipe heating water and chilled water system.  The heating is fed from the central steam plant.  The steam is brought in through a new tunnel and is used to heat the building heating water and domestic water.  The air is distributed through the building by a single duct VAV system, with dedicated zones for each office.  The building controls are tied into the campus head end for improved energy management, maintenance and diagnostic capabilities.

WHW Engineering, Inc. performed as the mechanical consultant to the project Architect, CRSA Architects.
