DIXIE STATE COLLEGE
New Health Science Building
Mechanical Engineer Consultant
The Dixie College Health Science Education Building was designed to be a top of the line, modern, and efficient facility. It included office and research space, classrooms, auditoriums, student gathering areas, as well as a fully functional dental laboratory, and other medical training labs. The building is a 75,000 square foot, 3 story facility, and it is located across from an IHC hospital to promote coordination between the professional industry and the research and education field.
The mechanical system for the Dixie HSEB included a stand alone boiler and chiller system dedicated to this building. The air handling system is a central air handling system served by two central station air handling units. Each zone was supplied with a VAV reheat box. The mechanical and plumbing systems also included the medical gases and support utilities required for the dental lab, and the nursing training areas.
WHW Engineering, Inc. was the mechanical engineer consultant to the project Architect, VCBO Architects.
